About Me
My name is Alan Grace. I live in Titirangi in Auckland, New Zealand. Titirangi may translate as "fringe of Heaven." Titirangi and the rest of West Auckland are known for its bush and beaches, particularly surf beaches on the coast.
We have been in lockdown, stuck within the "Auckland" boundaries for over 100 days now. We cannot even walk on many bush tracks because of Kauri dieback disease.
This is my second time doing this course. Both times the courses were every week day for two weeks.
The first time was two years ago in May 2019. It was a face-to-face course in a scout hall in New Lynn. The current course (December 2021) is a fully online course run using Zoom.
Yesterday (Wednesday 1 December; Day 3 of this course) was the first website development day using Weebly.
The first time I did this course I developed my first Weebly website two days before the course started.
My original Weebly website was a (pretend) promo for one of my existing websites. You may enjoy the video!
You can see it here:

My background is in teaching Computing and Mathematics at tertiary and secondary level. I have a particular interest in online learning.
I taught at AUT (Auckland University of Technology) teaching computer skills for over 20 years in the Faculty of Health starting in 1987 when AUT was known as ATI (Auckland Technical Institute).
I am retired. I joined this course to see how successful it was online.
This course is much better organised than the original face-to-face (f2f) course.
It has been a busy three days on this course so far. I started using two computers simultaneously on the first day (three yesterday and today). In the afternoon of the first day I "cast" the zoom screen on my desktop computer to the TV in the lounge. Much more relaxing sitting comfortably in the lounge. I had to race back to my computers in my study to do the online breakout sessions which were in groups of two people.
